DIY (Valentines Day) Gift idea for your boyfriend/girlfriend: Mix CD

Helloooo

So I know it's been quite sometime since Valentines day has passed by and this post might just be a little bit late but there's always the next Valentines Day to look forward to and of course you don't have to wait for Valentines Day to make your partner happy, you can do it during any day of the year.

I wasn't going to be in Singapore for Valentines Day this year but my boyfriend and I mutually also agreed on the fact that we don't need to make a big deal out of this day so it was alright. But I hated the fact that I was gonna be away from him for two weeks and whether we celebrate it or not, I still wished I could've spent that day with him at least. So I wanted to give him a little special something before I left which I also gave it to him as my Valentines Day gift to him since the day I was leaving was closer to that day. I got this idea off youtube but I added my own elements to it to make it more personal as you will see. I thought it made a really cute gift and it's really inexpensive as well. My boyfriend loved it a lot and he was touched so you know what this means...more gifts for me now hehehe

I'm just kidding hahahahaha he is my biggest gift already truthfully speaking

Anyway, I hope you enjoy this post and if you've ended up here because you're a bit clueless as to what to give your boyfriend for any thing, then I hope I've helped you in some way :)

So you first want to start off by creating a playlist and add all the songs you want to add for your boyfriend. It can get really hard to pick songs so the way I decided to pick them was by shortlisting my all time favourite songs that especially remind me of him or our relationship and then amongst those, I shortlisted the songs that fit certain categories, like for example songs that express my feelings towards him or songs that portray the kind of relationship we have etc. I ended up choosing 20 songs

And then of course you need to burn them into a blank CD. You can get them for really cheap at just about any shop that sells computer stuff. If you don't know how to burn you can just youtube it which is what I did. It's really easy

But before you burn the CD make sure to number your songs in the order you like

After that you need some papers. They can be any kind. Fancy or coloured or plain. It's really up to your preference. I had these scrapbook papers lying around so I decided to use one of these.

After that you remove the sheet that comes in the cover of the CD and use that as a template to trace on the paper and then cut that out and use it as a cover for the CD. It would fit nicely inside. You don't have to glue it because there will be these tiny hooks behind through which you can insert it.

Behind the paper you can write down the track list. Since my songs were categorised as you will see later, I put different coloured hearts beside them for visual categorisation.

After all that I created a collage of our picture in black and white using photogrid app on my phone and printed it out and then cut it out in the style of a polaroid picture.

After that I just used a black marker to write down the name of the CD on my "polaroid" and tape/glue it on to the paper. You can write anything really, I just combined the name of my boyfriend and I over here to show that the CD is about us hahaha (If that's too lame for you feel free to write anything else)

Then go ahead and get a small piece of paper. So remember we categorised our songs using hearts before? On this paper we will write down what every heart means and this was how I categorised them. You can categorise it any way you want. So when your boyfriend opens this he would know which song is for when. On the flip side I also wrote a small letter for him but that's not really mandatory for this DIY.

I was lucky to find this small scrapbook envelope lying around for me to use it for the letter/reference sheet I made in the previous step and stick the envelope behind the CD cover. But if you don't have these you can always make a simple one yourself.

And tadaaaa! you're all done

I really hope you liked this idea. When I saw this on youtube, a lot of the girls on the comments section said their boyfriend would probably not like it beacause it would be too gay. But really, if your boyfriend loves you, whatever you make for him by putting in effort, he will love it. So don't be afraid to be cute or a little cheesy for the gifts you want to make for your boyfriend if you're the type of girl who likes to give things to your boyfriend the kind of things that you would also enjoy to receive from him. And if you're a guy and you want to do this for your girlfriend, trust me she will really love it.

We all can't deny the fact that some songs have the ability to express exactly what we are unable to put into words, so what can be better than letting your partner know how much you love him/her through some of the songs that mean so much to you right?

I will be back with another post soon, A levels result come out tomorrow. If I don't blog for the next one month, you will know why hahaha
